Release notes

Warning: You should always read the release notes and the update procedure before updating Librex. They sometimes contain installation instructions for a specific version update.

Warning: The Librex server can take a while to restart after an update.

Warning: Before updating Librex, it is recommended that no transmission (email, fax, printing) is pending.

If the notes contain the word WARNING, it is important to verify if the version could affect your current operations. It's possible to have a different behavior of some Librex specifics modules which requires modifications to your current installation.

This list show Librex supported versions. We recommanded that you stay up to date.

Version 2.19

• Librex supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition.
• The server installation is now automatic.
• A wizard is now available after an installation or update to configure the Librex server.

Version 2.18

• The stamps applied to a document did not appear on subsequent version of the document.
• There could be errors during the first start of the Librex server after an update from a version prior to 2.17.38 to version 2.18.0-2.18.4.

• At the time of scanning, if a modification script was not returning any value, Librex was considering there had been a problem during the seizure by the automatism and was displaying the window requiring from the user to seize a valid value even if the property was not obligatory.
• The stamps applied with an angle of 90 or 270 degree was not correctly displayed when the document is reopened or printed.

• Improved performance while opening the printing window.
• Addition of the support for automatic form detection during scanning.
• In a script, it is now possible to specify an email address rather than a user ID while sending an email.
• In a script, it is now possible to specify an email address for a notification rather than a user ID while sending a fax.
• In a script, it is now possible to specify if you want to notify on success or error while sending a fax.

• Now display correctly the printer trays name.

• Add of the DVD as archiving media.
• Ameliorated performance during the exportation of a document in PDF format.

• The picture generated for an STX document without background image didn't have the right dimension when exported or sent by email in TIFF or PDF format.
• Now can print PNG documents.
• Did not allow deleting workstation which had no burner. This problem was present in versions 2.18.0 and 2.18.1.
• Allow now to print and send stamps and notes.
  
• The display of images was becoming more and more slow as images were shown during scanning or manual importation. This problem was present in versions 2.17.41B to 2.18.1.
• An error was produced if a script did not return a value.
• The document validation windows disappear automatically when the focus was on the 'Validate' button and the “Enter” key was press.
• The media did not close automatically when they reached the limit specified in the media creation parameters. This problem was present in versions 2.18.0 and 2.18.1.
• Did not allow using more than one burner during the burning of medias. This problem was present in versions 2.18.0 and 2.18.1.
• Stamps were not well displayed on certain type of documents.

• The print window always keeps the last printing mode (local or server).

• It is now possible to re execute a transmission on one or many documents in the consultation window.

• The Web Service 'Travail' ceases functioning occasionally when the command to change the document is send to the Work window.

• Modified the forms management within the document model maintenance. The access to the form maintenance is now done by using the 'Add' and 'Modify' buttons of the forms table rather then the 'Form maintenance' button. The name, the scanning model and the template are now modified in the 'General' tab of the form maintenance window.
• Add the possibility to burn archive CDs on workstations. You need to select the option “Media creation on workstation” in the media creation maintenance.
• Improvement and simplification of windows for the media creation.

• Display bug in the email parameters about the limit size/file to split an email.
• Corrected the rescan of a batch. It now removes (with confirmation window) all the content of the batch before launching scan.
• If the automatic deskew and automatic contrast were both inactive in a document model, the automatic repositioning was never made even if it was activated.
• Could cause an error when an imported document was bigger then 16Mo.

• WARNING: The automatism 'Percentage of black' returns now the percentage of black rather than a boulean (true or false). The options ' Tolerance' and ' Percentage' were removed. The calculation of the transition level must be made directly in the script.

Version 2.17

WARNING: To use automatic updates on the server, a last manual operation is necessary to go from 2.17.9 or less to 2.17.10 or more. Please contact our experts for more details.

Note: The release notes prior to 2.17.12 are only available in french. We apoligize for this inconvenient.

• Now supports background image within a PDF via importation.
• Now supports undo (Ctrl-Z) and redo (Ctrl-Y) in text zones.
• Librex virtual printer’s reorganization.
• When all pages of a PDF document are exported (email, exportation) for a document model with fractioned pages, the PDF is no more converted to image.

• Was overprinting in STX documents when there was more than one page. This problem was present in versions 2.17.41B to 2.17.41F.
• The values on the multiple properties were doubled in a transmission when there was more than 10 values for the property. This problem was present in versions 2.17.38 to 2.17.41F.
• Was selecting a default scanner if no scanner was defined at the time of the modification of a workstation.
• When a document is imported, Librex was supposed to use the actual date as document creation date since version 2.17.40. This was not working (see version 2.17.40 for more information).
• Was causing an error when text was to be extracted automatically from an imported document. This problem was present in version 2.17.41F

• Add the environnement variable autoImportWakeOnEvent. This can disable the trigger of the automatic importation on file drop. Set the value to false to disable the trigger event.
• Add the environnement variable notifyOnAutoImportError. This variable enables an email notification when an error occurred in the automatic importation. Set the value to the user/group ID to notify.
• When an error occurred while faxing documents, the email sent to the operator has the necessary information to find the documents.
• Optimization and solidification of the automatic importation.

• In the automatic importation, check if a file is in use before processing. Invalid files are no longer created for this matter.
• Create the work directory while converting files in the automatic importation. This problem was present in version 2.17.41E.

• Process time is reduced on the automatic importation.
• The automatic importation is trigger when a file is drop in a importation folder on Windows.
• Librex can now manage PS and PCL file in automatic importation in a local path or on a AS/400 network drive.
• Librex can now print PS and PCL document natively in a script on the transmission when a document is entered in the system.

• The server was causing an error during the initialization of the languages. This problem was present in versions 2.17.41B to 2.17.41C.

• The image quality was augmented during fax transmission.
• WARINING: During fax transmission, the document is not any more adjusted automatically to the fax margins. To reactivate this option:
• For simple transmission, use the following option:
  adjust     ajustement_marges
• In a transmission script, use the following command:
  fax.setAdjustment( Telecopie.ADJUST_FIT_TO_MARGINS );
• WARINING : During fax transmission, the cover page did not always correspond to the page designed in fax maintenance window. Some adjustments to existing cover page may be necessary.

• The picture generated for an STX document with background image didn't have the right dimension when exported or sent by email in TIFF or PDF format.
• On the first start after the installation of the Librex server, the server was causing an error during the initialization of the languages.
• The file ExecOnce.run was renamed ExecOnce.done even if there was an error during the installation or the update of the Librex server.
• The server was causing an error while updating the Librex data. This problem was present in versions 2.17.38 to 2.17.41A.

• Could cause a memory overflow during the impression of a document having a great quantity of pages.
• Raised the time allocated ot the execution of a command in web service 'Travail'. Command execution returns an 'ERROR:Communication' message when the allocated time is exceeded.

• Problem of sending transmissions after importing documents in Librex from a client station. This problem was present in versions 2.17.38 to 2.17.40.

• WARNING: The Impression transmission does not print "Archive copy" any more at the top of the page. Besides, the document is not any more adjusted automatically to the margins of the printer. To reactivate one of these options :
• For simple transmission, use the following options :
  adjust     ajustement_marges
archive    true
• In a transmission script, use the following commands :
  printing.setAdjustment( Impression.ADJUST_FIT_TO_MARGINS );
printing.setPrintArchiveCopy( true );
• WARNING: The creation date of a Librex's docuemnt is now defined by the date when the docuemnt is entered in the Librex system and not the creation date of the file itself. To continue to work the ancient way, you must define the following environment variable : creationDateOriginalFile.MD = true where MD stands for the short name of the document model. We can also define it globally by ignoring the document model, with creationDateOriginalFile = true.

• In the server parameters, if the option "Display only the last version of the documents at the time of the search" was selected, it became unselected. This problem was present in version 2.17.38 only.
• Several default stamp models we're not created. This problem was present in version 2.17.38 only.

• Add the possibility to apply personalized stamps to the documents. The stamps, once applied, are fixed to the document and cannot be moved or deleted. A stamp can be made of a background image, signature, username or the date.
• Improvements of the security windows in the document model maintenance and the operations maintenance.
• Web service "Travail" – Now record in the log when an error happens while reading the languages.
• Web service Document – Addition of the document model ID, the document version and the last version indicator at the end of the result returned by the getDocument command.
• Web service Document – Addition of the savePropertyValue command that allows addition or modification of a property's value for a specified document.
• Web service Document – Addition of the short name of the document model at the end of the result returned by the getAllDocumentModels command.

• In the LibrexWEB interface, the document viewer was causing an error. ). This problem was present in version 2.17.37A to 2.17.37C.

• It is now possible to open the scanning window without any scanner defined, but no scan option is functionnal.

• The environment variable does not fill the Librex.log anymore.

• Improvements during the transfer on the server of documents containing several thousands of properties.
• Reduced the time of document transfert
• The documents do not disappear any more when a RMI time-out happen
• The search of documents is not affected any more
• The document is available for research even if the properties are not completely transferred to the server
• During automatic importation, process the documents by time order rather then alphabetically.

• Acceleration of the document processing time during automatic importation.
• Black percentage automatism ( form maintenance ) now returns the percentage of black found in the zone rather then a true or false value. The analysis of the allowed percentage is now done in the script.
• The rescan of a batch now empties the batch before starting the scan rather then replacing the documents in the batch.
• Add of the environment variables, which is a key/value system to replace most of the properties file used by Librex.

• At the time of scanning, the repositioning was never done if none of the the automatic contrast and the automatic deskew were activated.
• It is now possible to delete and restore a document with an undefined number of pages, like a Word document.

• It is now possible to send Librex document using Microsoft Outlook email client.
• It is now possible to send email without any attached document.
• New parameters are now available in the Barcode automatism.
• ATTENTION: The parameters for the barcode in the Librex.properties file are not converted in the Barcode automatism. These parameters are not read anymore from this file and must be entered in the automatism definition.

• During automatic importation, the files *.invalid where processed as valid files and were generating *.invalid.invalid files ( and so on ). This problem was only present in version 2.17.34.

• Add the possibility to detect and discard blank pages while scanning. A new tab is available in the scanning models.
• When scanning, the auto contrast management has been readjusted to get a better quality image.

• Reorganization of the scanning models window. The parameters are now divided into tabs. The management of scanner types is now simplified.
• In the scanning models, a Border tab is now available. A mask can be applied to the document while scanning. It is now possible to define a different mask for each scanning model.
• ATTENTION: For those already uses the mask options with the parameters define in the ScanningModel.properties have to define manually each scanning model. This file is obsolete unless you go back to an anterior version.

• While validating an automatism, if there is an error, the combo box is only visible if there are at least two values detected. If not, a simple field is available and the "Enter" key will accept the value entered.

• Extract correctly barcode of type 3 of 9 and 128. Support new types of barcodes. For now, a flag has to be set in the Librex.properties file.

• In the system monitor, if a task was selected, the remove task action in the popup menu was not working.
• The option "Scanner parameters" is not available anymore in the importation window.

• Add the possibility to electronically sign a document. The signature is specific to the current user.

• The automatic importation was not working correctly with networks paths. This problem is only present in the 2.17.28 and 2.17.29 version.

• While modifying a document, the maintenance pages options have moved form the lower panel to the toolbar and menu (Document).

• In the Librex question window, if the Enter key is press the current button is execute. A default button is defined, depending on the context, to avoid some errors.

• The toolbar and menu option did not correspond to the current state. An example of this is when a zoom is not at a defined value. This is a visual problem only.
• In scanning, importing, consulting or modifying, when you do a rotation, the options on the lower panel (document, page, modification options) do not automatically become enabled.
• In the template maintenance, do not ask an additional save question. The image tools are disabled if there is no image.

• In the template maintenance, the "Select an image" and "Remove image" has been replace by toolbar and menu options. There are also shortcuts added to those options: Select an image, Ctrl-O and Remove image, Delete.

• Improvement on window's closing management. The quit Librex option is available on any menu, File | Quit Librex or Alt-F4 shortcut keys. It is also possible to close the current window on File | Close or Ctrl-W shortcut keys.
• It is now possible to change the current user without restarting Librex. This is available on File | Change user. This will bring the Librex authentication window even if the integrated Windows authentication is used.
• Add connections maintenance in the administration. By now, the connections are only used for the automatic import service. A connection represents a path towards a define directory. It is now possible to be connected to a directory by specifying a define user.
• Add automatic import parameters maintenance. This maintenance makes it possible to modify the automatic import parameters. This maintenance replaces the AutoImport.properties file. ATTENTION: this file is still used for the association of a filenames to a document model.
• In the services maintenance, addition of restart button.

• In scanning mode, support pages longer than 14". Important: the scanner must support this mode and the TWAIN driver's window must be use.

• While modifying a document, if we add, insert or replace a page, we are not limited to only one page. In scanning mode, all the pages in the scanner are treated. In importation mode, it is now possible to select more than one file at the time.

• Librex can now manage PCL file in automatic importation. A manual operation is necessary on the Librex server. Contact us for more details.

• Better management of the Librex.exe update.
• It is now possible to send an email with no Librex documents as attachment.

• While scanning, if more than one barcode is detected on a document, no more error occurred when we cancel in the selection window.
• If the default server port is change, an error occurred in the server startup process.

• In classification of a document model property. The "Other" option is always active wherever the level. If the classification is alphabetical, the numeric values are always visible.
• The new client ClientInstall[1.03].exe always integrated it's own Java runtime.

• In the media maintenance, add the [repMedia] variable, which correspond to the media directory.
• In scanning or importing, after a document validation, we set the focus to the next non validate or erroneous document.
• In scanning or importing, when a value is erroneous, it is now possible to select a value in a combo box so you don't have to reenter all the data.
• In classification of a document model property. If the type is alphanumeric, it is now possible to show the alphabetical and numeric data.

• When the focus is on some buttons, the "Enter" key will fire the action.

• The Librex client does not work if it was installed with its own Java Runtime. This problem is only present in the 2.17.21 version.

• When some windows with a question appear, the "Enter" key is not associated with the "yes" button anymore. The "space bar" key must be use to select the desired option.

• Add the Integrated Windows Authentication. It is now possible to authenticated Librex users with the Windows domain. It is possible to define authentication by workstation (Librex standard or Integrated Windows) with a system default value.
• Increase the speed of the update on the Librex client and the startup is more reliable.
• Make it easier when you reinstall a workstation.
• New version of the client installer is available: ClientInstall[1.02].exe. Use of this client is recommended but not necessary. It is available in the download section.
• Increase the speed of the update on the Librex client and the startup is more reliable.
• In the scanning and importation window, add the shortcut "Ctrl-J" to the "Batch parameters" option.

• In the printing window, select the local or server printer if the options "Reuse selected option next time this window appear".
• In automatic importation mode, do not block on documents with more than 2035 pages.

• In the scanning and importation window, move the menu option "Batch parameters" from Tools to Batch menu.

• Reorganization of the scanning and the importation window.
• In the scanning window, it is now possible to delete an incomplete document.
• Process was accelerated for importation (manual or automatic) of PDF files.
• A check box was added in the maintenance of server parameters for the option allowing to see only the last version of the documents at the time of a search.

• In scanning window, if the user wishes to change the selected batch or close the window whereas a document is incomplete, a confirmation window is displayed.
• If the user was specifying that he did not wish to preserve the document, all the documents selected in the list of documents were deleted.
• If the user was cancelling the change of batch, the batch was nevertheless changed.
• In the media creation window, the box was not checked when verification was finished.
• Corrections on server update scripts.
• The automatic caracter recognition (OCR) during the scanning was not functionning any more. This problem is only present in version 2.17.19.
• Could return documents of former versions at the time of a search even if the option to see only the last version of the documents was activated.

• While scanning or importing, if the focus is in the document list, the Enter key has replaced the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-V.
• In the scanning window, the rescanning options (document, batch and page) have been move to the menu.
• In the scanning and importation window, the validate document button has been moved to the left panel.

• In some conditions, backup of the database was not functionning. This problem touches the users who updated from version 2.14, 2.15 or 2.16 to version 2.17.
• While scanning, when the current document contains more than one pages, the change page option is not blocked. This problem is present only in versions 2.17.16 to 2.17.18.
• While scanning or importing, if we enter a page manually in the current page field, if the Enter key is pressed, it does not validate the document anymore. This problem is present only in versions 2.17.16 to 2.17.18.

• Add the possibility to specify a maximum size and a maximum number of attached files for an email. Of one of these limits is reached, the mail is splitted in many emails prior to be sent. Please note that the documents within the email are not splitted.

• In some conditions, the character recognition automatism was not working during automatic importation of files with PDF format.
• Correction in the server initialization sequence.

• When sending mail, attached files are renamed if some of these files have the same name. The first file keep its original name "name.ext" wheras the other files are renamed "name (2).ext", "name (3).ext", ...

• In some conditions, the data capture panel stays gray after manuel importation of documents
• There was an error during automatic importation of a file containing more then 200 pages if some text had to be read from each of these pages.
• In the consultation window, advanced search tab, the launch of a search with Ctrl-F key didn't include the modification of the current edited field from the search criteria table.

• Support for files with a TIFF extension (TIF equivalent) and JPEG, JPE, JFI or JFIF extension (JPG equivalents).
• Possibility to use variables in script which are stored in the document or in the batch for the time of the treatment of the automatisms.
• Improved security during connection between Librex server and database.
• Standardisation of menus, add many options in the menus.
• Standardisation of the toolbar.
• Add keyboard shortcut.
• Sounds a beep when the maximum number of characters is reached for an entry field.
• During document modification, it is now possible to add new pages coming from a file.

• Error during execution of certain update scripts containing question marks.
• Left panel do not open (scanning, importation and consultation), on the click on the splitbar.
• In the email window, name resolution didn't work if there was only one user corresponding to the letters typed by the user.
• Some file formats (PDF, TXT, RTF, …) were no more readable by Librex. This problem is present only in version 2.17.15.

• The Escape key does not close standards windows anymore. Only dialogs windows still closing.
• In scan or importation, the shortcut Alt-R for a 90 degrees right rotation has been replaced by Ctrl-6.
• In the viewer, the keys: up, down, right, left, home, end, page up and page down who worked with the control key Ctrl+Shift has been replaced by the same keys with no control key pressed if the focus is on the document. If the focus is elsewhere, these keys are still functioning with the control key Alt.
• In scan or importation, the “Batch parameters” button has been move to the Tools menu.

• Sending faxes through automatic transmission didn't work.

• Was causing a NullPointerException error during automatic importation.

• Better management of errors in the Librex client startup.
• Reorganization of the email window. The window is now resizeable and keep the user's preferences. Allows to modify the generated name of the attached file and allows to send each file in a specific format. Some columns has been added and sort option is now available.
• In the email window, it is now possible to attach any file on your computer.

• During automatic importation of certain AS/400 reports, the text extraction automatism did not succeed in reading some zones of text.

• Reorganization of the exportation window. The window is now resizeable and keep the user's preferences. Add shortcut to select « Desktop » and « My Documents » directories. Allows to modify the generated name of the exported file and allows to export each file in a specific format. Some columns has been added and sort option is now available.
• The column Document Model and the sort option are now available in these windows: Email, Fax and Print.

• If an exportation has been cancelled and then reexport without closing the window, it doesn't freeze.

• Ajouté la détection automatique du modèle de document lors de l'importation automatique de document sur le serveur Librex. Il n'est plus nécessaire d'envoyer le document dans le répertoire spécifique au modèle de document ni d'inclure le nom court du modèle de document dans le nom du document. Évidemment, la détection automatique implique un temps d'exécution plus long, dépendamment du nombre de modèles de document. • Lors de la mise à jour du serveur Librex, ajouté l'affichage sur la console des commandes de mise à jour envoyées à la base de données ainsi que les réponses provenant de celle-ci.
• Amélioré la présentation lors de l'affichage d'un document dans Librex.
• Modification du comportement du zoom lors de l'affichage d'un document. Il est maintenant possible de faire un zoom à partir du click de la souris sur le document. On peut aussi faire un zoom à partir du point central du document affiché en tenant la touche <CTRL> enfoncée et en utilisant la roulette de la souris.
• Dans l'affichage du document, il n'y a plus de restriction quant à la dimension des panneaux.
• Permet de redimensionner une note par les côtés, soit vers le haut, le bas, la gauche et la droite.
• Dans l'entretien des modèles de documents, permet le déplacement d'une zone.

• Lors du redimensionnement d'une note à son minimum, la note n'est plus déplacée.
• Lors du redimensionnement d'une zone dans l'entretien du modèle de document, la zone courante ne se déplace plus. Valide aussi la dimension minimale d'une zone existante.
• Dans l'entretien des modèles de documents, valide qu'aucune zone ne peut exister à l'extérieur du document.
• Dans l'affichage de documents, dans certains cas, lorsqu'on était dans un mode prédéfini (pleine page, pleine hauteur, pleine largeur), il arrivait de ne pas garder ce mode.

• Automatisé la mise à jour du serveur. L'administrateur n'a plus à effectuer des opérations compliquées pour installer le serveur. Il n'a qu'à arrêter le service Librex Serveur, exécuter l'application de mise à jour puis redémarrer le service. ATTENTION : Pour le passage au mode automatique, une dernière opération manuelle sera nécessaire. Contactez un de nos experts pour passer d'une version 2.17.9 ou moins à la version 2.17.10 ou plus.
• Lors de la gravure de médias, si Librex n'arrive pas à fermer le tiroir des graveurs, l'application affiche une fenêtre demandant à l'utilisateur de les fermer manuellement plutôt que de donner une erreur et de terminer la gravure.

• Pouvait causer une erreur lors d'une recherche sur une propriété de type date. Cette erreur se produit si le système d'exploitation sur lequel est exécuté le seurveur de base de données utilise, dans ses paramètres régionnaux, un format de date non compatible avec Librex ( AAAA-MM-JJ ).
• N'affichait plus les notes (post-it). Problème introduit dans 2.17.9.
• Causait une erreur lors de l'ajout d'un lot sur le serveur Librex si l'utilisateur entrait une valeur de plus de 255 caractères lors de la saisie d'une propriété ( numérisation et importation ). L'application limite maintenant le nombre de caractères saisis à 255 caractères pour une propriété.

• Accéléré la recherche et la lecture des documents dans la base de données.

• Lors de l'affichage de plusieurs documents dans la fenêtre de visualisation, conserve l'ordre des documents tels qu'ils apparaissent dans le fenêtre de consultation.
• Activé l'affichage du texte complet en bulle d'information ( tooltip ) sur le panneau d'affichage des propriétés si le texte n'entre pas complètement dans la case du tableau ( ne fonctionne pas bien pour la colonne du nom de la propriété, sera réglé plus tard ).
• Ajouté l'opérateur 'n'est pas vide' dans la recherche avancée.

• Lors de l'ajout d'une nouvelle page dans la fenêtre de modification de document, la fenêtre de sélection de la source pour l'image conserve maintenant la dernière sélection.

• Lors de l'ajout d'une nouvelle page dans la fenêtre de modification de document, causait une erreur si l'utilisateur cliquait Annuler dans la fenêtre de sélection de la source pour l'image.

• Si le type d'assemblage défini dans un convertisseur du modèle de document demande la détection de fin de document dans le formulaire et qu'il n'y en a pas de défini, utilise le nombre de page du convertisseur.

• Modifier le temps d'affichage des bulles d'information ( tooltip ) afin qu'elles ne disparaissent plus tant que la souris est au dessus d'une composante.

• La suppression de pages dans un document ne créait pas de nouvelle version.

• Ajouté la possibilité de modifier les page d'un document après son entrée dans le système ( ajouter, remplacer, supprimer ou déplacer des pages ). Si l'intégrité du document est affectée ( ajout, remplacement ou suppression de pages ), une nouvelle version du document est automatiquement créée. Ces opérations ne sont disponibles, pour le moment, que pour des documents numérisés ( format tif ).
• Ajouté une option pour permettre de déplacer une note ( Post-It ) sur une autre page ( clic droit sur la note, Changer de page ).

• Les notes ( Post-It ) étaient systématiquement resauvegardés à la fermeture de la fenêtre de visualisation d'un document et ce même si aucune modification n'y avait été apportée.
• Corrigé des problème d'imprécision lors du positionnement des notes ( Post-It ) sur le document.
• Corrigé des problèmes mineurs dans le panneau de navigation des pages.
• Erreur lors de la première initialisation des paramètres de média ( lors d'une nouvelle installation ).

• Ajouté les conditions 'différent de' et 'ne contient pas' dans la recherche avancée ( fenêtre de consultation ).

• Dans la fenêtre de confirmation de changement de nom de document ( modification d'un document ), ne conservait pas le nom modifié par l'utilisateur si une des 2 autres options était sélectionnée.

Si le nom est changé, le document prend le numéro de version suivant pour le nouveau nom.
