June 30, 2008, "end of sales" date for Windows XP

Microsoft has stopped selling Windows XP as a retail packaged product.

They also stopped licensing it directly to Dell, HP, Lenovo and to all major PC manufacturers.*

From June 30 2008 to January 31 2009

Until January 2009 or while quantities last, Hexatek can continue to offer Windows XP preloaded computers.

From January onwards or when XP have been cleared from the inventory, you will have to buy Vista and then legally "downgrade" to XP.

Not all versions of Windows Vista contain downgrade rights. Only Windows Vista Business and Windows Vista Ultimate include downgrade rights to Windows XP Professional.

How to downgrade to XP

To downgrade to XP, you must have a CD of Windows XP Professional legally licensed and in the same language you purchased your licence of Vista Business or Ultimate.

If you do not have a CD of XP Professional in the chosen language, you will have to get one by buying a new computer. It is not possible to buy an XP Professional CD only.

So if you don’t have a legal version of Windows XP Professional with a valid license key and you whish to continue using Windows XP Professional in your company. Don’t wait and get yourself a computer with Windows XP Professional.

Hurry because you only have until January 31 or while supplies last!!!

*Some manufacturers will continue to offer models with Vista Business or Vista Ultimate with downgrade rights to Windows XP Professional.
